The P@PMafia met at Barista, walked up Kanchan galli...the climb up was in the dark. My rickety left knee was causing me to miss my footing...some kind Samaritan had a cell with a powerful torch light. That helped. Walk On.

The climb up is an awesome experience...the top was heavenly...though the densely forested trees were devoid of leaves, yet a stunner. Walk On...

Fastrack World sent me a pair of their recently launced Biker series shades, via a post on www.bikenomads.com , a bikers club very well known in India.

I have used them on a a few rides including a recent 140 kms ride from Pune-Pavana Dam-Lonaval-Pune, with BikeNomads......scroll down for the ride log.

The shades covers the eyes well side to side and totally cuts off the UV glare. I deliberately rode against the sun for 30 kms to see the effectiveness of the shades. The glare was effectively cut off and my field of vision was normal. There was no distortion. Besides I was surprised at speed of 80 kms per hour on my Pulsar 220, dust particles did not enter from the sides of the glasses.

Considering the cost of the shades @ below Rs 2,000/- Fastrack has a winner in the Biker series shades.

Did an early morning ride to Pavana....air was cool...got a great shot of the bike against the rising sun....

RECCE RIDE TO PAVANA

Early morning did a kick ass recce ride to Pavana Dam. . Started home 06: 20 hrs.

Departed Chandani Chowk 06:35 hrs. Reset trip meter to zero. I was late in starting by 20 minutes. Ripped the bike taking curves at 70, checked breakes, headlights, practiced countersteering …all fine with Street Fighter. Morning air was chilly, the setting awesome. Traffic thin, could rip bike on a few stretches.

Got a great view of the early morning civil twilight at Piranghut ghat turn off. The scenery of the hills was awesome…but pic got screwed up.

Rode down to Paud and could not locate the turn to Pavana. Asked a few people, no one knew. My last ride there was a few months ago …saw a conical hill feature and remembered that. Ripped the bike down Mulish road, past Paud, took a chance right turn, keeping the hill cone to my left. Navigation was bang on…I was on Pavana road. Found a beautiful river, took a few pics. Was surrounded on all sides by mountains, lush green agricultural farms, the rural setting was perfect. My type of country roads. Wanted to catch the sunrise, ripped up the rural roads….Oh la la found a beautiful lake…took a few pics of the lake with the rising sun. Distance from CC was on trip odo meter 34 kms, time 0715 hrs. Ripped the bike up a ghat and reached apex of the mountain, with Pavana Lake to the west and the rising sun to the east. Absolutely awesome setting. Got a few hurried shots.

I figured Pavana Lake further down some 15 kms. Turned back for CC. Reached CC at 09:00 hrs.

My observations for Saturday shoot:

1. Meet CC at 06:00 hrs. Start at 06:15 hrs sharp. NO DELAYS.

2. First stop Pirangut hill turn off, for few shots of Morning Civil Twilight.

3. Second halt at the bridge, for shots of the river.

4. Third halt at the lake to catch the sunrise.

5. Fourth halt at the apex of the mountaintop to take shots of Pavana back waters.

6. Last halt at Pavana dam.
